Recently, during my returning trip to Los Angeles on EVA Air, I was able to use my miles to upgrade from Elite class to Royal Laurel class for the Taipei – Los Angeles leg. I had planned for this since the beginning and was lucky enough to get the reservation for the upgrade after my arrival at Kuala Lumpur. I needed the mileage from LAX – TPE – KUL added so I could use 35,000 miles for the Elite to Royal Laurel upgrade.
My son and I were invited to use the EVA Air lounge during our 4 hours layover at Taipei airport. It was a fun experience. This was not my first time using the lounge. We’ve been using this lounge several times when I upgraded my TPE – KUL leg to business class in our previous trips. That upgrade only requires 15,000 miles. The only different was this time, they served dinner at the lounger instead of breakfast.
However, the lounge has nothing that I would shout about. The buffet selection wasn’t too extensive but enough for a light meal. There are 3 vegetarian dishes and 2 regular items for the main course. There are other lighter selections, like baked sweet potatoes, hot dog, Taiwanese porridge, simple salad, and etc. As for drinks, they have the coffee machine that can make you all different types of coffees – cappucino, expresso, americano, latte, milk tea … name it, you may find it. The buffet area also has a small carousel with different types of liquors on it. Since I am not an alcohol drinker, I couldn’t tell what types they are.
Here is a video on our most recent EVA Air lounge experience.
