MASC Chinese New Year Banquet

Last night, a group of Malaysians from Orange County attended the MASC (Malaysian Association of Southern California) Annual Chinese New Year Banquet at Garden Grove. The Consul General of Malaysia, Encik Nekmat Ismail and his family were at this event too.

There was so much going on. There was a special performance, the Tea Harvest Dance by Peggy Cho and followed by the lion dance. We even had a special appearance of the God of Wealth (财神) himself (by Mr. Cho). He gave all of us a red envelopes each filled with a lotto ticket.

If you ask me how was the food, I wouldn’t say that it was the greatest but we had lobster! Nothing can compare with the fun we had. When you put so many Malaysians together, you ought to know that we can talk non-stop. Not to mention, some of them can really dance non-stop too.

I almost forget about the raffle tickets. I bought 5 tickets for $10. But I didn’t win any of the many prizes. The grand prize was a round trip ticket sponsored by EVA Air from LAX to ASIA. I was hoping that I would win that.

Here is a video I put together of this event. Enjoy!
