Snow on Santiago Peak

Happy New Year!! I can’t believe we are in 2015. I don’t think I have ever settled in 2014 yet, and now the year 2015 is already here to greet us.

It has been a cold week in Los Angeles and Orange County. We had a little rain overnight Tuesday and because our temperature was so low, some non-mountain areas of the Southern California had received some snow, including Temecula. Temecula Blueberry Farm posted two pictures of snow in the farm on their Facebook page. This is crazy. But I believe some kids must have had some great fun with the unexpected snow in the lower elevation.

As we were driving to Irvine Spectrum, I saw patches of snow on the Santiago Peak. I quickly took our my camera and shot this picture below.

We had our lunch at the Cheesecake Factory at Irvine Spectrum. On our way out to the parking area, and this is what I saw.

Probably there was more snow on the peak yesterday morning before the sun came out and melted most of it. And since I only get to see it more than a day after, it looked more like patches of snow. But I think these patches will not stay too long as the sun is strong today but our temperature is still very cold for this time of the year.

The weather forecast that we will be in the 70s next week. That’s a big jump in temperature for us. Today our highest temperature was around low 50s only. I dislike the huge change in the temperature like this because it can make me fall sick.
